New Nest for Feathered Nest Friday

I wanted to show you my newest nest, but.....

I cannot get it right side up.

Photo in my file is right side up,

but it ends up here on blogger sideways.

Even when I copy pasted it to word out of my photo file it ended up sideways there too.

I did the 'turn it aound 4 times' in my photo file, which works sometimes and others not, but it still comes out sideways here.

and it even turned up sideways in Picasa. ugh!!!

I AM FRUSTRATED!!!

so here, with much frustration, turn your heads, is my newest bird nest.

Vintage "Crib" and Mystery Item!!

what is it???

Not sure you can tell, but that metal bracket thingy swivels,

and there are screw holes in it too.

Anyone know what these are??

I was so excited to find this vintage 'crib',

until I realized.....

It is too deep for a doll crib.

I think it is a magazine holder.

Not nearly as fun now. =/

No, this is not 3 little birdies waiting for their lunch,
but 3 vintage coin purses that will soon have nests in them.

Vintage Silver Dancing Sailor Pin

by Forstner Sterling from 1930's and 40's.

So fun to find a treasure, and then find out'it really is a treasure!!

Sells for up to $50-$69 online. woohoo!!!

And found this treasure too.

It is a pin from a Untied Spanish War Veteran, 1898-1902.

Any collectors out there know the value of this???

And here is a cool old suitcase.....

with a mirror inside......

and the rest of the set all ready for travel. too.

Even has a name written in it!!

Ladies Watches

I just got a batch of the tiniest vintage women's watches, (minus cases).
That is, face, and works, but no outside.

These have been so hard to find here,

so I was thrilled to find them.

The mans watch is in pic so you can see how very tiny these are.
Most 1/2" or less!!!

I'm keeping some.

Blue Birdie Nest

Another new nest.

Found this little vintage coin purse.

Dark green on outside and pretty blue on inside.

(Not as bright as it looks in photo)

Put in one my little hand made nests....
filled it inside and out with cottonwood fluff, a feather,
cheesecloth, a bit of vintage doily.....
and a sweet little blue birdie.
Even some 'hand made by me' eggs in this one. =)

and a little sign if you want.

We really should, after all, celebrate life and all the

goodness the Lord has blessed us with. =)

I like to use what I have found to put my bird nests in.

This week it is Vintage coin purses.

that is cottonwood in the nest and around it.

And see the little birdie??

Someone came into the store and bought it 15 minutes after I had made it!

" Vintage" Baby Shoe Tutorial

I have several free tutorials on my side bar.

One of them is how to take new baby shoes

and make them look aged.

Above is one I aged, then put my Tea Bag Roses in.

(Also a free tutorial on my side bar.) =)

The two below are pin cushions I made with just slightly aged shoes.

They are just slightly scruffed up as I wanted them to be 'sweet' more than old.

I have also put my little bird nests in them as seen at beginning of post.

Celebrating my Reader List

YAY!!! My reader/follow list is back!!
After 3 months of being gone and numerous notes to blogger!!

I do hope we are not celebrating too soon. Almost afraid to turn off my blog and computer off now.

I have been deleting some blogs from my list as they said I was waaaaay over the number I could follow.
What made it difficult was not being able to get to my reader list to do anything about it all this time.

OK, a couple of things about following::
Would be nice if bloggers would put their 'follow' somewhere easy to find.
Like at the beginning or middle of blog, instead of waaaay at the end.

and, I have asked before: How does my name get on blogs to follow, when I did not do it?
I mean there are some blogs on my follow list, I just would not follow, even if they paid me,
and others that are just simply of no interest to me, yet they are on my list.

That's all. Just a bit of nothing. =)

Some great photo instructions from my friend Dawn,

Here's what I've figured out now:

click on an image ~

you will be taken to a "slide show" type of window.

Then RIGHT click on the image and select "VIEW IMAGE" with a left click.

A new window will open.

You may even be able the left click the image again

and it will appear even larger!

THEN you can RIGHT click it and select SAVE IMAGE

and save it to your own computer.....

give it a try ~ I hope it works for you :)

Beautiful vacation pics.

One week on Northern California Coast.

Beautiful sunsets....

Cabin on the beach....

(we stayed in a cabin, but not this one.) =)

But this is what I really wanted to show you.

A wonderful treasure my sweet fella found.

Can you see it better now??

Yes, it is a paper wasps nest!!!

The bees were all gone.....

so it came home with us.

Look at the details in this side that was broken open.

That is layers and layers of 'paper', the bees make.

They gather fibers from dead wood and plant stems,

which they mix with saliva, and use to construct water-resistant

nests made of gray or brown papery material.

This nest is about 12" long and 8" across.

Absolute amazing!!!!

Just wanted to share some of God's wonderful creation.

Hey everyone.

Happy Saturday!

I just had to show you what my friend Julie has been up to.

Cute, cute little oranments.

These are two of my favorites, but she has all kinds

of cuteness going on over at her Saltbox Treasures.

And, she has a great etsy shop with the same name.

Pink Saturday Starfish

Pretty pink flowers from our vacation.

Below is the underbelly of a starfish eating.

If it might bother you, please do not scroll down.

We were on a pier and some kids were fishing.

They had something so heavy on their line it was going to break their pole.

They had a huge starfish on the line!!

Dad to the rescue. Got it up out of the water,

and high enough up to net it.

They gently dropped it on the pier.

Can you see the little fish (bait) in it's mouth??

They got it out, and then gently tossed the

starfish back in the water, and it swam off.

This starfish was a foot wide, and had twenty tentacles!!!

And it was heavy!!!

Another simple little adventure we enjoyed on our vacation.

Blogger/Google, what are you doing to me??? to us???

Once again everything is changed!!!!

Not only are the screens different,

and I have no read list,

but, when I tried to read my fave blogs on

Google Reader, they have changed that format, too.

OK. No big deal......

BUT, according to Google Reader I have NO Names

on my list. Zero, Nada, None, Not a One!!!!

Honesty I am getting so sick of it all I am

about ready to give up blogging all together!!

I am just not feeling up to learning one more thing!!

OK, vented, but do not feel any better. =/

White Wednesday vacation pics for you.

Sure wish I could have found owner and asked about them.

Huge mushrooms....

This is my sweet fella's hand.

Just wanted you to see how very big those mushrooms really are.

We saw these while we were out walking one day.

I'm thinking they are cow skulls, but they look so wide.

Eyes look like the alien pics we see.

And below is a Praying Mantis.

I kept getting closer and closer to take photos.

It finally moved it's head just the tiniest bit.

Sorry head is blurry. (but maybe it is best that way.) =)

Had more, but they were sideways! ugh!!

I love gathering while I am out on my walks.

I added one of my bird nests in a pocket,

a special word from the Lord..and

a little doily flower.

Sometiomes it's fun for me to get out the old dictionary

we used to acutually use to look up words.

The last few years it has been the drying place for

wonderful gifts from the Lord that I find while on my walks.

As usual, blogger lets some pics be right side up, and others not...

but today it does not matter.

The leaves are beautiful either way.

This leaf is almost as big as the page.

The biggest leaf skeleton I've ever found.

How about the two tones in this leaf?

and, in case you think I punched a hole in it...no.

That perfectly round hole is where a buy chewed.

amazing!

even scruffy leaves have a beauty to them.

these two skeletons are so beautiful.

Perfect Fall colors, and shape.

Well, variety is nice, I guess.

For whatever reason a few of these pics are giant economy size.

Simple & Fun Ideas

old brush to hold watch faces, or photos....

make any old candle holder into Fall decor by adding cheesecloth, and a spider.

(spider comes in package of spider rings at Dollar Tree).

Candles. These were bright white candles,

not great for my shabby Fall decor.

I held them by the wick, and drizzled yellow paint down the candle,

then rusty colored paint, then some brown.

Now I have some shabby Fall candles.

ETSY Question

I hope I am not opening a whole can of worms here, but I'm hoping someone can help me understand about some items on ETSY.
I asked about buying some digital work from a vendor.
Her write up says they may not be used for making things for friends, or for commercial use.
I emailed and asked if I can make some things to sell at my little gift shop.
The answer was no. they are not for commercial use. (guess I never though of my little place as 'commercial'. I thought it meant like making thousands).
So, if I cannot use them to make gifts, and I cannot make a few to sell, are they just meant to be used for making myself something??
I have another inquiry to the vendor to clarify, but just wanted some feedback from my friends here.

I hope no one gets their feathers ruffled over this, but I guess I think if you pay for an item, you should be able to use it more freely. (please do not yell at me. I'm feeling very sensitive today.)

I know this old toy phone is not bright shiny red any more....

and it does have splashes of other colors....

I thought since they said Chula Vista Dairy

they must be from California...but.....

They are actually from right here in Eugene.

Must have been long ago,

cause I grew up here and never heard of it before.

Blue Monday, and This & That

This is a small hand stitched table cloth.......

that has a small pocket on each side, with a cute little napkin in it. sweet???

and this is a vintage pillow top. Hand stitched also.

This is not part of my blue..... just some Rustic Stuff from the shop.

What is it??

Looks like a lizard tongue.

I have some of these wood shoe things at the store,

but have never seen one with this metal screw thing before.

Anyone know how it works or what it is for? thanks

Crow Pumpkins Closeups

Love that little violin in the suitcase.
hand made but never finished. still fun

Here are some crow pictures for my friend Dorthe
at den lille lade.
She has an adorable blog, and does unique and
wonderful art for her ETSY shop.
Crow Pumpkin #1 (above) This guy has silver bling in his nest,
a chain in his mouth, and cheesecloth, feathers, and spiders everywhere.
#1 SOLD. Thank you Dorthe. =)

#2 More bling, and and egg in his nest.. Shredded paper,
and of course spiders are hanging out at his place too.
This guy has a feather in his mouth to fluff up his nest.

#3 Some fall leaves add a bit of color to this one.

and more bling. This time gold.

All the crows have built their nests on black

pumpkins with sequins on them, and a

little twig to fluff cheesecloth on and

make a home for the spiders. =)

it's white wednesday today. one of my fave days of the week.

(cause white is one of my fave colors!) =)

Above is a basket of light parts.

two stacked on top of each other.

more coolness. these can be used as a pedestal for many things.

I'm displaying some of my pumpkins on them at the shop.

this one even has the chain for turning the light on or off.

cool huh?? =)

little cream suitcase. sold while I was out celebrating my birthday.

I put linens in this. worked great, but have new furniture now.

that's the fun of having a store.

Fun Finds, Signs, and Rusty Hinges

Found these last week. Can you guess???

Yes, eye glasses. Old ones. Can can you believe a metal case?

I've never seen one like this before.

And what's in that cool little box????

More eye glasses.

Broken, and seen better days, but cool anyway.

Any ideas what to do with the eye glass parts???

And what have we here? Totally boring, shiny mostly new hinges.

But I fixed 'em! Soaked them over night....

laid them out to dry....... and cooool rust!!! Ready for my project or yours.

Seems all I am doing is shopping lately, but, this is the season,

then will be along cold winter without garage sales.

Sure glad there is a flea market in the winter here. =)

sweet little pill box. Only about 2". (pills not included) =)

HUGE bird cage. almost 4' tall.

Little Grater my brother gave me.

Anyone know about it? Only about 4" tall, has a lid,

and inside is this other grate sort of thing.

A little this, and a little that

Just a few little things I have gathered.

The basket part of this buggy was shredded, so

I just took it off. Will be cute to set some pumpkins in.

vintage glass toppers. Love the green ones.

a tin box of very very old blocks and tinker toys.

a pair of tiny tiny doll shoes. pale yellow and only about 2" long.

and one little black doll shoe, with no mate. about 2 1/2" long.

Thinking maybe a tiny little pin cushion in it.

Seems like most of her work sold for a lot.

This is a print with very muted colors.

Here is a close up of her beautifulface.

And look at those blue eyes!!!!! Such sweetness.

This picture of her face shoes much more color than the drawing does.

The top photo is more like the actual colors.
