Makin' Shelves, the easy way, and a question

This is an upside down hose hanger.
Add a board, and you have....
a shelf.
Sometimes you just have to think out of the box.

And here is a wall sconce.
Use two of them...
add a board.....

another shelf!!
How quick and simple is that?

nothing on it yet. ran out of time.
Here is my fave find for this weekend.

I bought a cute vintage doll bed, and this sweet little guy.
The doll was separate.
(like you could not tell. no pink beds for my little guy).

His clothes were hand made by the little girl who owned the doll,
when she was 8.
So fun to talk to her and her Mom.
Sad, I thought, to be selling him, and her other dolls,
but they had to size down to move.
She has kept it all in wonderful condition.
(he even has little brown socks.
I'll need to find shoes for him.)

Look at the detail on his little hand
(he lost the pinky on his other hand. I did not ask how.)

And don't you just love that sweet face?

He is my first boy doll.
And here is his new home at the shop.
Don't expect he'll last long.

Joining these great hostesses today.
Hope you will go check them out.

OH. My question.
How would you make a pair of new
white metal shelf brackets look old?
thanks

  4. Barbara Jean, This is the kind of idea you hit yourself up side the head and say, "Why didn't I think of that before?". I love these shelves. And I'll be looking at things a little differently now!
    So creative!

  5. Hi Barbara, Love your idea for shelves. As to the question, how can you make brackets look old, stick them in the attic for 100 years. It works every time!

  8. What a sweet little guy... I have the female version of that doll... she just had her 50th birthday and she doesn't look a day older... wish I could say the same...lol

To make your white brackets look older just rub with some raw umber and wipe off... it will give it a rusty look.

    Hugs, Deb

  10. Your shelf ideas are very, very clever and they look fantastic. And your little boy doll is so cute. I remember when real boys used to wear their hair like his.

  11. Oh that doll is adorable!!!
I came by to tell you that I thought it would be a great idea to feature other people's art on my new website....the I Owe it All to Him one...
If you've got a special piece that you would like to have spotlighted on it, just let me know...
I would write a story to go with it and use it as a theme for the day and have you be a Guest Artist...
    well, that's my new idea!
Sending hugs and blessings your way...I love to see all your fabulous things--I'm in wonderland around here!
    :-) Cindy
