~White Wednesday
Outdoor Wednesday
At Southern Daydreamer
and
at Sue Loves Cherries
And Heeeere we go!!
A little white, outdoors,
followed by a little red, indoors!
I love my walks in the morning.
I just never know what little 'treasures' the Lord will show me.
Today, it was these curious items.
They are balls of some kind.
Sort of filled with air.
And growing on the Oak leaves.
They were all over the ground.
Not seed pods.
Maybe some kind of fungus, or mold?
OK, you nature lovers out there.
Tell us what they are.
I can't tell you how many times I have walked
this same route out in the country,
and I never saw this old sign till the other day.
It was hidden back in the bushes.
Cool, huh?
Now, here is my white outdoor.
I have walked by this scene many a time.
It intrigued me.
I finally walked out into the field and
took a photo of it.
Can you see what i am talking about?
Those old chairs,
sitting in the middle of weeds.
Here is a close-up.
Just wonder what, whoever used to sit there, watched.
Isn't it sweet?
OK. Now, here is my red.
We are fixing up a new display room at the shop,
and my fella needed this.
But the sweet guy just keeps plugging away,
With even a smile on his face.
With even a smile on his face.
Thanks hon. You're the best!!!
And so are all of you!!
Keep smilin' and thanks for the viist.

Those white chairs are so cool, is this someone's abandoned property or close to someone's house? You can tell my wheels are turning upstairs, because I'd be finding out if they were "free or for sale"! It's amazing what you "see" when you walk that you would never notice otherwise. Have a great week.

I love to "discover" surprises while out in the country! And I would be thinking the same thing if I ran across those chairs just sitting there.
ReplyDeleteHey Barb ... here's the long story on the "things" ... probably more than you wanted to know!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Betty :)
ps - how are ya doin'?
They are oak galls, created usually by gall wasps. (We always called them puffballs as kids, but puffballs are actually the white fungus "mushroom-y' things in the ground under the oak trees ...
The California oak gall wasp forms "oak apples" on twigs and branches of Oregon oak and several other species of white oak. This wasp is very common from Mexico north into Washington. The large galls can be seen on trees year-round. Oak apples are green when they form in the spring, and they resemble an apple: smooth outside and spongy inside. When cut open, several larvae can be found developing in separate, hardened chambers. By summer the galls become light brown. Old galls become blackened with sooty mold. These roundish galls may be as large as tennis balls. They form in clusters or individually and may remain on stems and twigs for several years. Round emergence holes can be seen in older galls that have fallen to the ground.
Hello
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are wonderful, they look lonesome sitting there in the middle of nowhere unless there is a house near by.

ReplyDeleteLove the red toolbox! I actually have one...my hubby got tired of me "stealing" his tools, and not putting them back, so he presented me with my very own.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Wednesday!

Yep, they're galls. :) Those chairs are great...and I'd wonder if they wanted to get rid of them. Great photos! Don't you love remodeling? ;)
ReplyDeleteThose chairs -- don't you just want to make up a story about them? So dreamy looking.

There must be a good story behind those chairs. They do look sweet sitting so close to each other.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have a handy man. And not only does he have red toolbox but a red shirt too! Did you plan that? LOL!

It looks like those chairs are being severely neglected, and the authorities should be called!! Or you should take them! They're gorgeous!
