Tall, black, iron candle sticks for my 'in process'
mantel display.
Check out the bases on them.
Close up with leaves around them.
Here is another find.
Not so thrifty, but I loved it.
It's only about 12x15"....
and pretty clean inside.
And I got this.
Anyone know what it is or what it was used for?
On the end it says:"The Delta Metal Co."
"Christchurch"
Anyone know where Christchurch is?Sounds familiar, but have no clue where from.

I don't know what it was originally for, but I use my pan like that to sort my buttons! Nice finds!

ReplyDeleteYour last item is from Christchurch here in New Zealand and it is a 'gem iron' used to make little tiny loaf shaped cakes. Most popular is the recipe for 'ginger gems'.
Mum used to make gems when I was little.
That gem iron you found is a long way from home, lol!

There are probably loads of Christchurchs, but the one which immediately sprang to mind was Christchurch, New Zealand. And I am pretty sure that lovely old object is a baking tin/tray, probably for little cakes or bread rolls.

ReplyDeleteHi, my comment disappeared. The try is called a gem tray, very well known here in little old New Zeland which is where Cjristchurch is. In the south island to be precise and they have just recently suffered a very severe earthquake. Most we use the gem trya to make ginder gem, little sweet muffin type things, best eaten buttered and warm and on the day you make them. Hope this helps

ReplyDeleteI'm in New Zealand and I have one of those trays. Its called a "Wagner gem pan". They are a small cake pan. Christchurch is certainly in New Zealand and the Delta metal company is now Delta die casting. It has moved operation to Wellington.
