Does not get any easier than this:
Found an old jar.
Perfect for old clothespins.
Wrapped some jute around the top.
Added a bow. Done!
(Love these easy projects!)
This is my first wired ribbon bow.
I know there are great instructions out there,
but this one I just sort of twisted, and turned,
and glued as I went.
Easy and fun!!

A little embroidery hoop, and embroidery thread.
Tiny eye glasses.
When she wanted to put a miniature milk jug in
I asked her if that went in a sewing cupboard?
" Well. They might get thirsty!"
Thus the bread in the basket of yarn balls
and old clothespins.
They might get hungry. =)

This is be beautiful apron I one at Funky Junk Interiors
Celebration Party a few weeks ago.
It is from Make Mine Beautiful.
(click on her name to see her Etsy shop).
This apron is incredible! Pockets Everywhere!
Just the thing a do it yourself person needs.
Beautifully lined, and sweet details at every part.
And look at that sweet little jewel on the front pocket.
Sweet!!
Here is my thrifty find.
I want to put baby shoes, old pics, and nest and
whatever else I can find in it.
Do I need to paint it?
I kind of think the old brown satin would lend
itself to the old vintage items going in it.
Top edge is kind of interesting.
Not sure i like it, but think it may not bee
too noticeable when i get all the treasures in it.
OK. Give me some feedback here on what you think.
Thanks.

The little cabinet is adorable. IMHO, I would most certainly paint it - the brown hues would go together, however, having a cream/white base would truly make your items pop. Upcycled something very similar for my sister-in-law; I went with cream paint and trimmed it out in a greenish/blue hue (very similar to eggs), the glazed it. (I really wanted to do a bit of crackle on the cream, but she does not care for that so I opted not to. It turned out so very vintage and beautiful that I had a real tough time handing it over to her when it was finished.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your finished project and the steps you take along the way!

Ava's little sewing cupboard is so sweet. I need to start collecting glass jars and such to put crafting supplies in so that I can see what I have. So disorganized which makes it hard to get going on anything. After yesterday's decouparing, I have a BIG mess on my dining room table. Have more to do so will continue with that process for now. Your rose turned out beautifully. Hope you are having a great day! :) Tammy

I passed up a handful of old clothespins the other day...but I so like THIS idea at the top of your post...for my laundry room...I may just go back and get them.
Thanks for the idea ! ! !

Love your new apron, Barb! How cute is that!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved everything on your poast. I really liked the clothes pin jar and wire-ribbon rose.
ReplyDeleteYour apron is so lovely! I think I would paint the shelf and I agree with a pretty cream and maybe a naccent color on the fretwork at the top depending on the color scheme of the room you are going to put it in. Or leave the top stained and maybe the shelves leave stained for a contrasting look.

You did a great job twisting the ribbon, I've been practicing making ribbon roses for some of my red hats, bought a vintage ribbon making book. The apron is so cute.

That apron is adorable! I would pain the shelf for sure and when you put all the treasures in it see if the edge detracts but I think it is nice.!
