Country Sale Whites

I showed you this picture yesterday, of some
of my finds at the Huge Country Sale
with all the piles and piles of things to dig through.

Well here are some close ups of some my white finds.

There were two of these lamps.
Looked like they were made of cement, but plaster we think.
They will be great as table bases.

Is that perfectly oldish, or what??

and here is a.......? what?
Not sure, but those metal parts must be good for hanging...
something? Any ideas??
I'll take off the weathered chipboard back.
(looks cool here, but really broken up.)

I got this baby buggy at another little store while we were out.

Yeah. It's falling apart, at least the basket part of it.
I got another buggy a couple of weeks ago too.
Basket also falling apart on it.

So, here is the wheel on this one....

and the wheel on the other one.
All 8 wheels are perfectly cool like this.
The frames are great too.
I'm thinking of just taking the wheels off and
selling them for wall decor.
But what about those great frames???

any ideas???

I love learning about books and other treasures I buy for the store.

I have almost a whole set of her books at the store.

Shopping in the Country

Do you like shopping in the country??
Sometimes you follow signs for miles before you finally get there.
And you never know hat you will find.

Today we drove miles to a "HUGE" sale.
And it was huge!!! And messy. And hot!

I can't tell you how many piles just like these we saw.
They just seemed to keep going.... and going.....

and going.

But, we persevered and looked and looked and
did find some treasures.

Like these ever so pale pink, shabby, peely, rusty rails!!
And the old cart rims, so perfectly rusty.

Here are some other treasures we found.
(already had grinding wheel).
See those old lamps? They will be perfect table bases.
(hoping someone else will buy them and make them.) =)
Wrought iron plant stands, stool, bird cage,
wire thingies, and huge old dust pan.......

and this so cool table base!!!
(hoping someone else will make the top for this too.) =0)

Frustration........

I know you will all think I am nuts, but once again
I am finding myself signed up to follow blogs
I have never heard of, and would not follow if I had.
Some are family blogs of people I have never heard of,
and although they are lovely people I have enough friends
and family to visit already.
Some are just distasteful blogs I am sorry
I visited when they came up on my list.

This has happened before too.

Now I am spending my time trying to take myself off their lists.
I hope just doing it on their blogs is enough.

It's a Guy Thing

These are pictures of....

and even a leathery carrying case.

It is an instrument that one man can use to check level at any distance.

It is one of my 'manly' things at the store.

Clicquot Club

It is so fun, in the gather and sell business, to find out the origin or details of things you find.

This green pop bottle is a perfect example.

Here is part of the info I found.

Clicquot Club became one of America's pioneer radio advertisers, creating the Clicquot Club Eskimos, a bright dance orchestra under the direction of Harry Reser which remained on the NBC network week after week from 1926 through 1934. At one time the program was especially cited by NBC as being the oldest continuous weekly show on the network. From the days of the old crystal sets to the latest type of consoles, the Eskimos were standard weekly entertainment in millions of American homes, and the sale of the product extended throughout the length and breadth of America and far beyond its shores.

Magazine, newspaper and outdoor advertising was continued although radio, for a time at least, became the leading medium. In 1924, Clicquot Club installed the largest animated electric sign in the world on Broadway at Times Square, a full city block long, 6 stories above the street. The vivid action of the eskimo boy, the whip cracking and the radiating Aurora Borealis required 21 miles of wiring and 20,000 electric lamps at a cost of $90,000 a year.

During this period full trainloads of Clicquot Club Ginger Ale and other beverages left the 1/3-mile-long siding at Millis for Chicago, Philadelphia and other American centers to be distributed via wholesale grocers to the retailers of the land. to California via pan-isthmian steamers heavy shipments went to the Pacific Coast and to the Orient.

I love the animated sign. Did you see what it cost to run? $90,000 a year!!
That was a lot of money in 1924!!!

I still have not found what the bottle is worth, and I guess just the right person would have to find that I have it anyway, but the story was interesting.
What I did find out is that the company was purchased and shut down in 1965, so the bottle is no newer than that.



I found this old Pepsi bottle too, made in Roseburg Oregon
And, I got this coool old bottle holder.
I've never seen on like it before.
Even though the lady said that it was for pop bottles,
they seem too tall for it to me.
Wonder what kind of bottles it held?
