Get R Done Friday

It's Get R Done Friday.

Check out our projects,
then get on over to
Expressly Corgi
to see what else is going on.

This weeks Get R Done is actually my husband
getting a big project done.

He's been working on the fountain on our patio.

He leveled it all out,

Dug a hole,

built a flagstone wall around it,
and lined it with heavy plastic from work,
and put the fountain back in place,
and filled the 'moat' with water.

Isn't it great?!!

And after all that work,
he rested.

Here is a wee bit of a Get R Done I did.

I've had this simple black pure for over a year.
I kept looking for just the right trim to jazz it up.
(sorry, I know this is hard to see.)

It suddenly hit me that i had two of these
sparkling beauties i had bought at garage slaes.

So, I hand sewed one on,

and,

wallah!!!
F A N C Y !!

That's it for this week.

consistent job hosting!!

OK, fist up is this old heater.
I was so excited to post it i did not even get it cleaned.
Haven't plugged it in to see if it works or not.

And how about these treasures!!
They are totally old bed lamps,
and, as if you can't tell,
thoroughly trashed and worn out.
But they work!!!
I cannot wait to re-do these, but i will.
They are on a long list with many other projects. =0)

A silver tea set is always nice.
You can never have too many of those. =0))

And in this picture there are 12 vintage cloth napkins,
edged in crochet.
A bundle of old "Workbasket" booklets.
(my Mom loves to read through those).

And this rusty 'treasure' on the bottom of the picture.
Maybe a damper from a stove??

Three or More Tuesday

Three or More Tuesday
2nd Time Around Tuesday
hosted by Diane at

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Three or more Tuesday
hosted by Tam at
Gypsy Corner

Her is my second time around:

You know those old brown spice racks you see everywhere?

Why not paint white,

Add some pegs to it,
And turn it into one of these.*

Here is a re purposed 'tool' of some kind,
turned into a mailbox post.

Here is my Three or More:

Covered Bridge Signs

Oregon is known for it's covered bridges.
Many have been preserved.
Theya re no longer used, but are kept up for peole to see,
and anew bridge built beside them for use.

Others, have just faded away into the past,
with only a sign to designate they ever existed.

I was surprised to find 3 of these signs
when I've been out walking lately.
I'm sure i have driven by them a hundred times
over the 38 years we have lived here.
Within a 5 mile radius of my home,
there were once 3 covered bridges!
Now, only splinters of them left.
Some you cannot even see there used to be a bridge.
Time, and weather has taken it's toll,
and new developments have totally erased their existence.

I am so grateful for the bridges that have been saved and restored.
Maybe some day we can go for a drive and see some of them.

In the meantime,
some have been saved,
through photographs or paintings.
This is a painting i did in 1978,
of one of the local bridges.
It was a gift to Scott's Mom.
She passed away in December,
so family has returned it to us now.

Thanks for joining me today.
Be sure to go see what all the other
creative people have listed.
And be sure to thank our wonderful
hostesses for this special day!!!!

Blessings on your day.

There's some new birds in town.
Can you see them?
The little couple, there in the center, on the branch?

All the other birds turned to see who they were,
and make them feel welcome.
They all like it here
and are glad when new friends come.

They are so happy about their new home,
even though it may be only temporary.

They're singing.
Can you hear them?

Let's move closer.
Can you hear them now?
I don't recognize the song,
but it's a happy little song,
and they sure sing it beautifully.

These little birds, sitting on a music box,
will be staying over at the gift shop, with all the other birds, till
someone gives them their new home.
Is it your house?

Blessings on your Blue Monday.

THANK YOU

This post is to those of you who host
'special' days of the week for us.
Some call them 'meme's'.

In taking pics for these different days:
Rednesday, Blue Monday, Flaunt your Red Friday,
White Wednesday, Pink Saturday,
I have learned to see things a new, fresh, and different way.
I have learned to be more observant of the things around me.
All the things God has put there for our pleasure.

The Lord tucks little bits of brightness into our lives,
but if we are not looking for it, watching for it,
we might miss it.

Would i have even noticed the white spot in this whole row of hedge,
if it had not been White Wednesday coming up?

Look at this white rose, put there especially
for me to enjoy while out on my walk.

And I might not have noticed the
progression of our tomatoes

If I hadn't been looking for something red.

And this little spot of red,
can you see it?
It is neighbors tree right before our driveway.
Can you see it now?

Can you see it now?

OK, I have probably made my point.
How many of these things would i have missed
if i had not been 'watching' for things.
Looking for bits of beauty, in unexpected places.

I owe, and give thanks to the gals
who take the time each week
to post these wonderful opportunities for us.
A chance to share what we are seeing in life,
and what we are creating because of it.

And I owe, and thank,
a wonderful God,
who put all this beauty here for us to enjoy.

The next few posts will be on
some of the things i have seen, and enjoyed,
on my morning walks with Him.
And some of the wonderful ideas, crafts,
and lessons for sharing here.

Blessings on your day.

Barbara Jean

PS

I know there are myriads of other blogs
who do special days.
Please leave any you know of in the comments ,
along with their blog address. Thanks.

I will be doing some posts on the
others who host the creative,
reinventing, and gathering blogs, too.
Thanks to you all, too!!

Pink Saturday

It's Pink Saturday!

Please join Beverly, and many others
for more sweet pinks over at
How Sweet the Sound.
thanks for such a being a great hostess, Beverly!!

Here is a little something you may not
have seen before, at least i hope not.

It is a flower bag.
I made the first one last Spring.

I made a bag to fit around a plastic container.
This one is a 1/2 gallon plastic milk container.
You could also use a flat mayonnaise container, or
really any shape that will sit flat on a table.

The flower bag could also hang on a door.
A great gift for a friend.

Here is a close up of it sitting.
See the lace sticking out around the edge?
It has it's own doily built right in.

The other thing i use it for is a purse.

You can use it with the plastic in, or not.

(just pretend this is an adorable pink t-shirt i have on,
and that they are perfect together). =0))

So that is my short, but i hope sweet pink for today.

Blessings, and happy Pink Saturday!!
