This is part of my Fabulous Finish I got Done.
It is a lace flower with a vintage earring.....
for a giveaway at our church tea Saturday.
What's so special about it?
I have never been skilled in making packaging look beautiful.
I am just so happy and please with how this all turned out.
(and yes, I did brag about it on Bragfest Wednesday!!)
Now, from gorgeous,
to Gunky!!
What is this???
I gave you the tip on painting them when you are in a hurry.
Here's how you can really rust and patina them,
but it takes a little time.
Put some white vinegar, just the cheap stuff,
on a paper towel.
Lay keys, locks or whatever you want to make oldish, on it.
Sprinkle it with salt.
Roll up paper towel.
wrap it in the paper towel.
Place all in a baggy, and let set over night or longer.
Check them periodically.
You can sprinkle more salt on if you like.
This speeds up the process.
When they have started to turn, you can take them
out of the paper towel and expose them to air.
The next day they will be all rusty, and blue, and cool!!
I'm sure there is a great science lesson in there for your kids too,
but I'll let you take care of that. =0))
And here is a bonus from doing the keys:
Rusty, patina paper to use in my art.
(waste not want not i always say.) =0))
Here is another piece.
Turned sideways.
Can you see any shapes in them?
You know, like at the doctors office.
What do you see??
Go ahead, enlarge it, and tell me.
It's fun.
Sort of like seeing animals in the clouds.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now be sure to go over and check out what everyone else has been doing.
Thank you for the tips on rusting the new keys. I will try it on some other metal things too. sandi
Beautiful, Barb! I constantly tell myself that I wish you'd move here!
